A powerful, mixed media work of art created by Year 10 student William Ban is now on display in the world鈥檚 greatest art museum, the Louvre in Paris.

William, 14, has won the UWEE International Art Exhibition & Carrousel du Louvre competition, with his work 鈥 Bridging Space and Time 鈥 being chosen from thousands of pieces by artists aged 12 to 16. The UWEE International Art Exhibition provides a global platform for artists from around the world to showcase their work and engage with other cultures. The annual exhibition aims to eliminate regional differences and encourages artists to unite in creativity to live up to the theme, One World One Future.

The Condell鈥檚 House student has shared his 鈥渟hock and surprise but great happiness鈥 at his work being recognised. His lauded work features oil painting, sketching, and gold pen detailing to create an array of images.

鈥淲hile I believed I could do it, it was still a big surprise,鈥 William says of the win. 鈥淚 have long held a passion for creating art and this is an opportunity to compare what is happening in the world with what could happen in the future. My artwork has also been inspired by the architecture of Europe and making the most of capturing our changing world. We all need to think more deeply about those changes and their impact on our lives.鈥

While 鈥渁rt will always be in his life鈥, William, who is from China, is not sure which path he will take post-College. He was encouraged to enter the competition by his art tutor, with the final piece taking 20 hours to complete.
