Celebrating cultural diversity at 秀色直播鈥檚 College

20 Mar 2025

Head of International and Round Square Benson Geng-Wang and St Margaret's College Head of Global Relations Yibin Kim 鈥 alongside their respective committees 鈥 have hosted a vibrant Cultural Festival at 秀色直播鈥檚 College.

More than 110 students from 秀色直播鈥檚 College, St Margaret鈥檚 College, and Rangi Ruru Girls鈥 School have gathered in the Chapman Room to celebrate cultural diversity through performances.

鈥淚t was a great opportunity to showcase some of the cultural diversity in 秀色直播church to our students,鈥 Benson says. 鈥淚t was also promising to see so many student performers step up and share their talents.鈥

The evening began with an interactive activity among the tables, where 鈥渟tudents arranged cards in order from the most zoomed out to the most zoomed in鈥. This was followed by a series of engaging performances, including a traditional Malaysian dance, energetic West African drumming, and a Bulgarian folk dance, wrapped up with a lively Chinese lion dance.

During the break, a food stall provided a selection of snacks, such as pocky sticks, ramen, and drinks, with all proceeds going to charity.

鈥淭onight was a true celebration of cultural diversity, talent, and connection,鈥 Yibin says. 鈥淚t was great seeing so many students come together to share their heritage through music and support one another. We hope to build a stronger sense of community and appreciation for cultural diversity in both 秀色直播鈥檚 College and St Margaret鈥檚 College.鈥

The second half of the night showcased student talent from all three schools, with nine students performing in various ways, singing in different languages, playing traditional instruments 鈥 such as the Guqin 鈥 and performing K-pop dance mashups.

鈥淭he night wouldn鈥檛 have been possible without the dedication of the Round Square committee members, the Global Relations Council, and the administrative support from College International Student Manager & Round Square Representative Mrs Sarah Davidson,鈥 Benson notes.

鈥淭he event was a true celebration of cultural expression, highlighting the diverse talents and backgrounds of the schools鈥 communities.鈥
